<p><i> <strong>Résumé :</strong> </i> Au cours des années 1980, la pratique du Théâtre de l’opprimé en France connaît une évolution notoire, à mesure que celle-ci se rapproche de la politique de la ville, intègre les démarches de démocratie participative et en adopte les principes autant que le vocabulaire. Ce théâtre militant, originellement révolutionnaire, se redéfinit alors comme pratique socioculturelle et noue des liens étroits avec le travail social. Avec des idées fon-datrices proches des valeurs sous-tendant la notion d’empowerment, le Théâtre de l’opprimé apparaît durant cette période comme un outil privilégié d’éducation à la citoyenneté. Néanmoins, cette fusion apparente du Théâtre de l’opprimé et de la démocratie participative dissimule des écueils théoriques et des impensés. La poétique de l’opprimé a-t-elle renouvelé les modalités de sa politisation à travers l’engagement citoyen ou ce nouveau paradigme constitue-t-il un véritable point aveugle de ce théâtre militant<small class="fine d-inline"> </small>?<br class='autobr' />

<p><strong>The Citizen Paradigm in Theatre of the Oppressed<br class='autobr' />
Politicisation or Blind Spot<small class="fine d-inline"> </small>?<br class='autobr' />
</strong></p>
<p><strong> <i>Abstract </i> </strong> : During the 1980s in France, Theatre of the Oppressed experienced a significant evolution, as it became closer to local policies, assimilating participatory democracy efforts as long as its guidelines and vocabulary. This originally revolutionary activist theatre practice redefined itself as a sociocultural practice and bond strong links with social work. With founding ideas close to the underlying values of empowerment, Theatre of the Oppressed appears, during these decades, as an ideal instrument for citizenship education. However, this visible merger between Theatre of the Oppressed and participatory democracy disguises theoretical pitfalls and unaddressed dimensions. Did the Poetics of the Oppressed renew the modalities of its politicisation through civic engagement, or does this new paradigm represent a blind spot of this activist theatre<small class="fine d-inline"> </small>?<br class='autobr' />
