Jérôme Résumé : Les réformes scolaires de la fin des années 1950 et du début des années 1960, prolongées par la réforme Haby entrée en application à la rentrée 1977, ont mis en système les classes du premier cycle du second degré. Cette marche progressive vers le collège unique a généralisé à l’ensemble de la population la question de l’orientation scolaire, réalité nouvelle pour une large partie de la population française. En confrontant le contenu des émissions de plateau à la réalité statistique de la transformation du système scolaire, cet article analyse comment la télévision, monopole d’État, a rendu compte de cette réalité, se faisant à la fois relais des politiques scolaires et vecteur des transformations de la société française et des réactions du public.

A pedagogy of college massification
Abstract : Even though The school reforms of the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s, extended by the Haby reform implemented at the start of the 1977 school year, put the first cycle of the second level into a system. This gradual march towards a single college has generalized the question of educational guidance to the entire population, a new reality for a large part of the French population. By comparing the content of the on-set broadcasts to the statistical reality of the transformation of the school system, this article analyzes how television, a state monopoly, has reported on this new reality, acting both as a relay for school policies, and vector of transformations in French society and public reactions.
